The valley floor
Downtown Puyallup, Sumner, Fife, Milton, Edgewood and the farmland edges sit on the Puyallup River floodplain with a high water table. Older houses on crawl spaces here need the moisture check before anything else; vinyl plank over a vapor barrier is the usual recommendation, and a wet crawl space is addressed first. Newer slab-on-grade construction gets a slab test.
South Hill, Sunrise and the plateau
The plateau is 1980s to 2010s subdivisions: two-story houses with big open main floors, upstairs laundries, plywood subfloors and long runs that need expansion breaks planned. Whole-house vinyl plank and laminate projects with a flight of stairs are the common job, staged over several days.
Bonney Lake, Lake Tapps and Orting
Lake Tapps' waterfront and view homes have finished lower levels; Bonney Lake and Orting mix newer subdivisions with rural lots and manufactured homes. Lower levels get vinyl plank after a slab test; manufactured homes get subfloor repair and vinyl plank.
Graham and Frederickson
Rapidly built subdivisions and manufactured home communities. Straightforward installs on level plywood; manufactured homes get the particle-board subfloor replaced at wet areas.
When you call
Say the city, the rooms and rough footage, what is on the floor now and whether there are stairs. You get a call back to book a free measure, the installer's name and L&I registration number, and a written quote before anything is ordered.
